Moeraki Boulders

Moeraki.

It wasn’t so much the boulders themselves that struck me.

It was how I felt when I saw them. And the space around them that intrigued me.

I could have spent hours observing them. Just looking, with curiosity.

They felt like tūpuna.

Living and breathing, above and below the earth.

Connection to stars and cosmos.

And there were moments

of feeling like I had the whole earth in front of me

in a rock,

waiting to be held.
